The Famous Five- Five Run Away Together Book Review

The Famous Five written by Enid Blyton, is one of the most exciting books I have ever read. Georgina who would rather be called George was waiting with Timothy, her dog for her cousins, Julian, Dick, and Anne to arrive at Kirrin cottage.  George’s mother was ill. At their house was a sour-faced cook, Mrs. Stick.
Mrs. Stick also owned a dog named Tinker who George called Stinker and had a son, Edgar. The three of them had arrived and along with George had gone to the beach and when they returned a shocking news awaited them. George’s father and mother had gone to the hospital because of her mother’s bad health. The Sticks were a trouble for these children but her father refused to fire them in the absence of his wife and asked Anne, Julian and Dick to go to their home without George and Tim if they wished. The children made a plan and went to the Kirrin Island which had belonged to Aunt Fanny George's mother but now belonged to the children. Taking all the food they could, beer, rugs, batteries, torches, candles, matchboxes, food for Timmy and whatever was needed for them to stay on the island for about a week. George asked her friend, Alf to sail as near to the island he dared and hail for her if her mum and dad were back. So, fooling the Sticks they started their journey to the island with George’s boat containing the all the stuff they had gathered.
After reaching the island they found that someone had stayed on their island as they found a place where fire was lit recently. They realized that they could not stay in the castle as last time there was only one room left which was not in ruins but now it was also like the other rooms. In the search of a place to live they found a trunk on the wreck which was well locked but the children did not smash it open. At last, they found a cave and lowered down all their stuff and the next day, thanks to Anne the cave felt like a house and a beautiful one. At that very night Timmy growled suddenly as he heard some noise so Julian went up the rope and saw something suspicious and called George up, someone was on the wreck maybe to bring more things or to fetch the trunk, soon there was no one at the wreck. The next day Julian and George told Anne and Dick what they saw last night. Suddenly Timothy started growling, there was someone again on their island. The children watched carefully they climbed up the cave and saw some people going down the dungeon. When the children climbed down Timothy had disappeared, he had smelled something very familiar. The adventure had begun. Who were the people going down the dungeons? Why were they on George and her cousin’s islands? Were they smuggling goods or was it something much bigger and worse than that?
