Matilda Book Review

  

Matilda is a young five and a half year old girl who is knocking off double-digit multiplication problems and is reading Dickens. She is brilliant, she has learnt to read at a very early age. She has extraordinary love for books and by the age of four she has read all the children’s books in her local library.

Matilda joins school late as Matilda’s parents weren’t very concerned about their daughter’s education. It is not until she joins school and meets Miss Jennifer Honey with whom she develops a bond and her headmistress, a very cruel and unkind soul that Matilda realizes that she has some extraordinary and powerful tricks up her sleeve.

Matilda’s father is a dealer in second hand cars as well as a big cheat. He is glad to buy a car when someone has been crashing the gears badly that they’re all worn out and rattle, all he does is add a lot of sawdust with oil in the gear box. Which runs swiftly till about a hundred miles and is back to rattling again.

My favourite part of the book is when Matilda applies superglue on her father’s hat to seek revenge and the hat is stuck on his head.😂😂

 

 Once after school she goes to Miss Honey’s house and sees how poor she was, after a little chat she comes to know that Miss Honey’s condition is not the same as the other teachers. Her story goes that she was left in the care of her aunt when his father had died. Her aunt was very cruel and made her do the housework. One day, fed up of her aunt she rented a house and started living there and got a job as a teacher. But the sad part is that she only got was one pound a week and her salary of being a teacher was directly paid into her aunts account. At the end of their talk, to shocking truth of Matilda, Miss Honey’s aunt was someone who Matilda knew well.   

On the way back to home Matilda asks her three questions which will help her give justice. On the next day, Matilda decides to use her special powers to give her teacher justice.

Will she be successful in helping her teacher reclaim her property? What will she do with her powers? What will happen to her cheat father? Who is Miss Honey’s aunt?
